How to Use Generative Answers in Copilot Studio

What are Generative Answers?
Generative Answers allow your Copilot to answer user questions using AI—even if the question isn’t part of a predefined topic. Instead of you writing every single response, the chatbot pulls answers from connected content like:
- SharePoint sites
- Public URLs (like your website)
- PDFs or documents you upload
The bot reads that content and uses AI to generate smart, natural-sounding answers in real time.
How to Set It Up
- Open Copilot Studio
- Go to the Knowledge tab
- Click “Add a source”
Choose one:
- Upload a file (PDF, DOCX)
- Add a website URL
- Connect a SharePoint or OneDrive folder
Once connected, Copilot will start using this content to answer relevant questions. Generative Answers turn your chatbot into a mini search engine for your content.
